President Hernandez of Honduras tests positive for COVID-19

By Wanambwa M. Rogers

Kampala, Uganda (RTN)- The President of Honduras, Juan Orlando Hernández, was on Wednesday this week admitted to a military hospital for pneumonia, this after revealing that he and his wife had tested positive for the novel Coronavirus.

According to a health agency in the country, Hernández is in good condition and that the president was receiving intravenous medicine.

The president on Tuesday said that his wife had not shown symptoms. On his part, he said that he had started feeling discomfort via the weekend. Two presidential aides also tested positive for COVID-19 according to the health agency. However, their status was not known immediately.

Hernández's conundrum comes as Latin America's COVID-19 cases continue to soar and are currently over 1.5 million and more than 70,000 deaths.

In Honduras alone, the cases are above 10,000 with 330 deaths.
