Writers’ Guidelines
We are an independent Pan-African daily online newspaper based in East Africa reporting regularly on news that matters to people, covering East Africa, Africa and the world at large.
We're always looking for stories that impact peoples' lives and your story maybe one.
We publish any article ranging from 450- 2000 words on national and international affairs.
We Investigate, Analyze and Publish News in-depth. We’re interested in just about anything that will raise our readers’ eyebrows, but we focus especially on these areas: national politics, environmental issues, Wildlife, Health , Crime, Food and Agriculture, personal stories, Religious doctrines, Fact- checking, corporate wrongdoing, human rights, and political influence in all spheres.
We combine reporting and analysis to provide in-depth looks at issues and investigative reports
Guidelines for submissions
Write something around 450 to 2000 words.
Write in a ‘journalistic’, rather than ‘academic’ style. Avoid using jargon. Explain complicated concepts or references.
Write for a pan-African or broadly ‘international’ readership in mind.
We’re busy people and we have no time for calls. So, No phone calls, please.
Pitch topics rather than stories. “I want to write about Politics,” is not useful. “I have a story about a politician who won elections without investing in money and this surprising thing that happened to him,” is a story. We tend to avoid stories that simply announce that something exists: Readers need a reason to turn the page, and that reason usually involves action, drama, conflict, or tension—the stuff of storytelling.
