Uganda Relaxes Lock down measures Despite Covid-19 cases soaring to 457

Kampala, Uganda (RTN)-
After being under lock down for the last 75 days, the country's President Museveni on Monday announced the relaxation on the range of issues despite the country's Covid-19 cases soaring to 457.

Public transport with effect from 4th June 2020 will resume operation but will carry half of normal capacity including the driver and the conductor. All passengers, drivers and conductors must wear face masks.

Shopping malls not including Arcades will be allowed to open starting 4th June 2020.

The ministry of health last week reported 84 and 40 more on Monday new cases of COVID-19, the highest daily increase so far, bringing the nationwide tally to 457.

A total of 72 recoveries and no death has been so far reported in the country, according to the ministry.

List of Lock down Measure which has remained in place include the following ;
  • International borders and airports will remain closed until further notice.
  • Schools will remain closed for the candidate learners for one more month.
  • Curfew will continue from 7.00 pm-6.30am. This is at least for another 21 days.
  • Churches and mosques will remain closed.
  • Political and cultural public gatherings are still probihited until further notice.
  • Public and private transport is still banned in the border districts.
  • Bodabodas are still banned from carrying passengers until further notice.
  • Bars, saunas, salons, gyms, public swimming are still banned for another 21days.
