Kampala Lord Mayor Appionts Doreen Nyanjura as his Deputy after President Museveni stealing the former

Kampala, Uganda (RTN) - Uganda's Capital Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has today appointed Ms Doreen Nyanjura as his Deputy after the former was stolen by H.E Yoweri Museveni and nominated for the position of Director Directorate of Gender, Community Service and Production at Kampala Capital City Authority-KCCA.

Previously H.E Yoweri Museveni made a reshuffle in the KCCA executives in accordance to the KCCA Act 2010 that gives the president the mandate to appoint the city executive director together with a team of other directors.

Ms Sarah Kanyike who was the deputy major by then was nominated as director gender and community services.

Upon the news reaching the Lord Mayor’s desk, he gave Ms Sarah Kanyike a 3 day ultimatum to make a decision whether to stay as his deputy or proceed with the proposed position.

However the days have elapsed without her (Sarah Kanyike) declining on the position she was currently nominated for.

As a result, Mr Lukwago has announced Ms Doreen Nyanjura as his Deputy at a press today in Kampala in accordance to the KCCA Act 2010, which gives the lord mayor authority to appoint his deputy and the council.

Who is Doreen Nyanjura?

She was born circa 1989 in Fort Portal, Kabarole District in Western Uganda.

Doreen grew up with her father after the separation with the mother, her father Samson Muhenda a school teacher served as Deputy Head Master at Nyakasura School.

Education;

Doreen attended Kyebambe Secondary School in Fort Portal for her O-level and Masheruka Girls School at that time in Bushenyi but now Sheema district in 2009 for her A-level.

Attended Makerere University and graduated with a Bachelor in Tourism. As of December 2018, she was enrolled in the post graduate program of Master of Arts in Public Policy at Makerere University.

Political career;

Doreen’s political activism started in 2001 at a tender age of 12 years with too much passion for FDC as a political party.

While at Masheruka Girls School, she was elected chairperson school council.

At Makerere University, she was appointed Vice president of the university Guild under her political party FDC.

In 2016, she won the LCV woman representative position at Kampala Capital City Authority.

In February 2020, the FDC political party fronted Doreen Nyanjura as the party’s candidate for KCCA speaker, a newly created elective position.
